La Basilica Cisterna a Istanbul

Una scena del film di James Bond "dalla Russia con amore" è ambientata all'interno della Basilica Cisterna. Si trova nel quartiere di Istanbul a Sultanahmet vicino alla maestosa Santa Sofia. E' un luogo sotterraneo che incanta, in cui ci sono 12 file di 28 colonne alte 9 metri con capitelli diversi fra loro. Costruita nel 550 D.C., la sua funzione principale è stata quella di rifornire d'acqua il palazzo dell'imperatore Giustiniano e successivamente il palazzo reale Topkapi e l'Harem. La Basilica Cisterna è stata scoperta alla fine del 19 secolo, e solo di recente sono state trovate le colonne che poggiano sulle teste di medusa rovesciate.

 Ancora oggi il riflesso delle colonne sull'acqua rende questo luogo unico e incantevole!! Non trovi??

A scene from the James Bond movie "From Russia with Love" is set in the Basilica Cistern. It is located in the Sultanahmet district of Istanbul near the majestic Hagia Sophia. It''s an underground place that enchants, and there are 12 lines of 28 columns high 9 meters with different capitals. Built in 550 AD, its main function was to supply water to the palace of the Emperor Justinian and then the Topkapi palace and the Harem. The Basilica Cistern was not discovered until the late 19th century, and only recently have been discovered columns resting on the heads of Medusa reversed. Even today, the reflection of culomns in the water makes this place unique and enchanting!! Don't you think??

Harem: the color of Istanbul

Hello to All!
Today i speak about Istanbul, a magical and fascinating City that I wanted to visit and I finally saw last May!
The city is huge and there are lots of thing to describe! And that's why today I will focus upon one of the most interesting places from the city in terms of art and history: the HAREM,
The Harem is located inside the Royal Palace-Topkapi-and it has been a real surprise for me to visit the Harem. As soon as you walk through the entrance you are immediately captivated by the beautiful blue color that dominates the entire building with lots of rooms and courtyards. In fact, almost all the walls are covered with ancient colorful ceramic tiles from the Turkish town of Iznik.
The Harem is a wonderful place hard to forget, that i suggest to visit at least once in your life..

Oggi vi parlo di Istanbul, una città magica e affascinante che  desideravo visitare da molto tempo e che ho finalmente visto lo scorso maggio.
La città è enorme e ci sono moltissime cosa da descrivere! Ed è per questo che oggi mi soffermo su uno dei luoghi più interessanti dalla città dal punto di vista artistico e storico: l' HAREM,
L'Harem si trova all'interno del Palazzo Reale- il Topkapi- e per me visitare l'Harem è stata una vera e propria sorpresa, in quanto appena si varca l'ingresso si rimane subito affascinati dal bellissimo colore blu che domina l'intero edificio composto da tantissime stanze e cortili interni. Infatti, quasi tutte le pareti sono rivestite dalle antiche piastrelle di ceramica colorata provenienti dalla città turca di Iznik.
L'harem è un luogo meraviglioso difficile da dimenticare, che suggeriscono di visitare almeno una volta nella vita..
